The Exeter Chiefs Foundation have teamed up with three leading charities to create a special 'MND Day' for the upcoming Exeter Chiefs versus Gloucester fixture in the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Representatives from the Exeter and East Devon Motor Neurone Disease Association, My Name’5 Doddie Foundation and 4Ed campaign will be in attendance helping to boost the coffers of all three charities ahead of the game, which takes place at Sandy Park on Sunday, December 4 (3pm).

Exeter Rugby Club already has strong links to both the Exeter and East Devon Motor Neurone Disease Association and Doddie Weir's My Name’5 Doddie Foundation - and now they are set to link-up with the 4Ed Campaign, which was set-up early this year after Gloucester lock Ed Slater was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease himself.

Former England international Ed - who will be a guest of the Chiefs for the game - is one of several high-profile sporting stars to have been diagnosed with MND in recent years, others include Doddie Weir, Rob Burrow and Stephen Darby.

Tony Rowe OBE, Chairman of the Exeter Chiefs Foundation, said: "As a Foundation we have worked for a number of years with Exeter and East Devon Motor Neurone Disease Association as one of our designated charities, as well as supporting the My Name’5 Doddie Foundation. Now, ahead of our game with Gloucester in the Premiership Rugby Cup, we felt it was a great opportunity to not only help those two charities further with their much-needed fundraising, but at the same time assist the 4Ed Campaign as well.

"The whole day will be about not only raising awareness of MND but, more importantly, raising funds to help the charities and aid research into the causes of MND and investigate potential cures."

There will be an online auction of signed match shirts from both clubs, launching on the 17th November and running until 12pm on 27th November 2022, with the winning bidders invited to the MND match day and presented with their items at half-time. All funds from the auction will be split between the three charities.
