Exeter Chiefs Cycle Club raised more than £12,000 when they rode to Paris.

The three-day trip took 16 riders from Salisbury to the Stade Jean Bouin for Exeter Chiefs’ EPCR Challenge Cup game against Stade Francais in January.

The was the club’s 10th anniversary European ride. It went through Portsmouth, Caen, Évreux and then onto Paris covering just under 170 miles.

Sponsored by Teign Bean Coffee, Eagle One, Ekogea and Rock 2 Recovery, the team also had support from The Royal Marines Charity for their anniversary shirts and Optima Graphics for their tour badge and rider labels.

Aside from the physical effort involved, the club also managed to raise £6,000 for the Exeter Chiefs Foundation. This was match-funded by Benefact Group to take their total to more than £12,000.

Exeter Chiefs Foundation’s chairman Tony Rowe CBE said: “Congratulations to the Exeter Chiefs Cycle Club for completing their 10th European trip. Their efforts over the years have helped raise much needed funds for good causes in the Exeter area. Thanks to them and to Benefact Group for their generous match-funding.”
