Twelve members of the Exeter Chiefs Cycling Club completed 2,856 miles between them as they rode from Sandy Park to Mattioli Wood Welford Road last week.

The cyclists covered 238 miles each before watching Exeter Chiefs beat Leicester Tigers in the Gallagher PREM on Sunday, all with the aim of raising money for the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

The team cycled through the Somerset Levels and the Mendip Hills towards Bath before staying overnight in Midsomer Norton. The second day saw them heading east along the Kennet & Avon Canal and then north to Oxford. They then covered the last 78 miles between Oxford and Leicester on day three. David Cosford, from the Exeter Chiefs Cycling Club, said: “We can't believe it is 10 years since we started the charity cycle rides and a shorter trip to Leicester in warm weather was a welcome change!

“A great win and a big thank you to everyone who has supported us along the way and helped the wonderful work of the Exeter Chiefs Foundation"

The team has already raised almost £7,000. Extra donations to support the ride can be made here.

This annual trip followed on from the club’s 10th anniversary ride from Salisbury to Stade Jean Bouin for Exeter Chiefs’ EPCR Challenge Cup game against Stade Francais in January, which covered 170 miles.
