Four cyclists from the Exeter Chiefs Cycle Club rode nearly 200 miles from Sandy Park to the Twickenham Stoop to raise funds for the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

The Rival Ride is Harlequins Foundation's flagship challenge event, bringing together fundraisers on a multiday cycle ride, finishing at The Stoop for the final home game of the season.

Chiefs’ cyclists joined their Quins counterparts for the extended three-day route arriving in time for Sunday’s game.

The Exeter Chiefs Cycle Club team for the Extended Rival Ride were former Chiefs player Laurence Delve plus Zac Philips, Bruce Lambert and Ian Trow.

In addition, David Cosford rode the first day before returning to Exeter on the train and then drove to The Stoop with his bike on board to ride out and meet the team.

Rob Jones rode to the first food stop in Chard but was at the end at The Stoop too while the team’s bike mechanic Liz Hodges followed the team to Honiton, helping a few Quins riders along the way.

Delve said: “A massive thank you must go to both the Harlequins Foundation and Iconic Cycling Events staff for putting on such a fantastic event. I would like to thank all the Harlequins riders for being so accepting of us and allowing us to share this experience with them.

“Finally, well done to all the riders involved in the event, as of course the event couldn’t happen without them to help the Foundation raise funds to continue supporting the local community.”
