Foundation 10k walk open for entries
The Exeter Chiefs Foundation’s Community Charity Walk is now open for entries as the event heads into its 12th year.
This year’s walk will be approximately 10km, starting at the recently developed Wonford Community Centre and following the Exeter Green Circle to Sandy Park.
The Community Charity Walk will take place ahead of the first Gallagher PREM game of the season, most likely in late September or early October, but teams and individuals are invited to register their interest now.
Becky Skinner, the Foundation’s secretary, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who would like to take part in our walk which serves to promote wellbeing and to raise funds for good causes in the wider Exeter area.
“We would also love to hear from businesses that would like to use the Community Charity Walk as a team building day, which finishes with entry to a Chiefs’ Prem game with a pasty and a pint to reward them for their efforts.”
Entry to the walk costs £50 and includes all the above. Entrants are encouraged to raise extra funds with the individual and team top fundraisers in line for a prize donated by Lympstone Manor.
Last year’s walk attracted entries from 74 participants and raised more than £7,000 for the Foundation.
The Exeter Chiefs Foundation’s chairman Tony Rowe CBE said: “It would be great to see more participants take part in this year’s walk. It’s open to all ages and abilities and is an opportunity to enjoy strolling through the fresh air in the natural environment around our city. All the funds raised from this walk will go towards the Foundation, which in turn, will help charities and organisations in our area.”
