Foundation honours loyal volunteer
Exeter Chiefs Foundation trustees honoured one of their longest-serving volunteers at the final home game of the season.
Having been the charity matchday co-ordinator for the last nine years, Mike Rock greeted and supervised the car park and bucket collectors at all the men’s and women’s matches at Sandy Park.
Having made the decision to step down from his role at the end of this season, the Foundation’s chairman Tony Rowe CBE and trustees Karime Hassan MBE and Kieron Northcott presented Rock with a certificate of appreciation at half-time in front of a packed Sandy Park crowd on Saturday.
Rowe said: “All our volunteers have done a sterling job this season, but it felt right to honour Mike for his services in the last nine years. His enthusiasm and hard work mean our charities have been able to get the most out of their collection to support the Foundation and their own causes.
“We will miss Mike but wish him all the best and hope he enjoys more time with his family and gets through the long list of jobs his wife has lined up for him!”
