The Exeter Community Transport Association has taken delivery of a new mobility scooter thanks to a grant from the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Available from the ExeAccess centre in Paris Street, this scooter will be hired out to anyone who has difficulty getting around the shops, attractions and businesses in the city centre.

The charity also offers a scooter delivery service to people living in a 30-mile radius of Exeter. They also provide a minibus for shopping trips to supermarkets and day trips to local attractions for people who cannot use public transport

The Association applied to the Foundation to request a grant to replace some of their older fleet of mobility scooter and powered wheelchairs.

Christian Hardinge-Walsh, manager of the Exeter Community Transport Association, said: “Our service enables our customers to experience inclusion and independence. Based in Princesshay, our customers visit local shops and restaurants, and they can also socialise with family and friends.

“Our scooters and wheelchairs get plenty of use and we have to replace then from time to time. Many thanks to the Foundation for this grant. This new scooter will make a big difference to our customers’ comfort and ease of use.”
